Terminal Velocity, Wind Speed and Jumping Out of a Plane - Sounds Easy Doesn’t it?
Have you ever seen the movie Terminal Velocity starring Nastassja Kinski and Charlie Sheen?
An action movie about sky diving and jumping out of an aeroplane reaching speeds of 120 miles per hour (mph). Ever thought what it would be like or tried it? Well one of the girls in our office has completed sky dives, more than once and lived to tell the tale lol!
What Is Terminal Velocity?
Terminal velocity is when a falling object’s speed no longer increases and that object has zero acceleration. The size, weight and shape of the object can all affect an object’s terminal velocity.
Sky divers know all about this and the effect of gravity and how to get the best experience when free falling or sky diving. Experienced sky divers change their body positions which in turn can create different rates of terminal velocity for different sky divers.
What are the benefits of Sky Diving?
It is known that the body’s endorphin levels increase dramatically whilst sky diving which is often referred to as an adrenaline rush. This adrenaline rush improves your alertness both mentally and physically.
- A little adrenaline is good for the body and helps you to perform certain tasks better.
- l The thrill of sky-diving can boost your confidence and help you conquer your fears.
- l Sky diving can help you focus and release stress.
I know sky-diving is not for everyone but if you’re up for a challenge, sky diving could be on your bucket list for 2021!
Air Velocity Meters - Anemometers
Techris Systems have a range of air velocity meters (anemometers) that can be used in a variety of environments: HVAC (heating, ventilating, air conditioning), meteorology and monitoring of ambient comfort conditions or in plant and maintenance applications to assist with diagnostics and fault finding.
