A data logger is an electronic device that records and collects data over time, using a built in sensor (or plug in external sensors) to monitor and record environmental conditions e.g. tracking temperature in refrigerated storage containers. All data can then be retrieved and downloaded into a computer for analysis. Depending on your business or application, a data logger may sometimes be more suitable or appropriate for your needs.
Data loggers can have huge benefits for the user. Manual recording may turn out to be time consuming and open to human error if the requirement is to record many measurements over a longer period other than spot checks. Also, you may need to avoid disturbing or compromising the area or environment in which your measurements are required (e.g. within fridges, blast chillers, freezers or ovens) and data loggers can continue to record uninterrupted by the opening of doors etc which may otherwise be required when taking manual measurements with a thermometer/probe.
Many variations of data logger are available for different applications e.g. water resistant loggers with an internal sensor for fridges/freezers, loggers with external probes to monitor the cooling curve of joints of meat in blast chillers, or the core temperature of meat in ovens, combined humidity and temperature loggers for e.g. cheese storage/maturing or mushroom growing – or simply for long term monitoring of ambient working conditions in labs, warehouse or office environments.
Data loggers from Techris Systems can provide the accuracy and reliability needed in these situations and the predetermined recording sample rate can be set from a period of minutes to hours and recording itself can be over days, weeks or even months. As with thermometers from Techris Systems, our data loggers are supplied complete with calibration cert traceable to National Standards.
