TM 4000 Series Digital Tachometers

High-Accuracy, High-Response Rotation Speed Measurement Instruments

TM Series Tachometer from Ono Sokki
TM Series Tachometer for measuring rpm

The Ono Sokki TM-4000 Series delivers precise rotational speed measurement across a wide frequency range with exceptional accuracy and response time. Engineered for professional measurement, monitoring, and control applications, the TM-4000 Series achieves high-speed signal processing, enhanced linearity, and superior display visibility — making it ideal for industrial automation, R&D testing and production quality control.

Outstanding Accuracy and Fast Response

The TM-4000 Series offers high-accuracy rotation measurement with fast update rates.
For analog output models, linearity has been improved to
0.1% of full scale, and the output refresh time reduced to 1 ms, enabling high-precision equipment monitoring and highly responsive control.

The input circuitry supports a wide range of signal types:

  • Sine wave inputs from 1 Hz to 100 kHz
  • Square wave pulses from 0.05 Hz to 100 kHz
  • Minimum detectable pulse width: 4 μs

This ensures compatibility with a variety of sensors and rotary encoders used in speed, displacement, and position measurement applications.

Flexible Configuration and Ethernet Connectivity

Each TM-4000 model can be customised to suit different system configurations and external interfaces.
Available options include:

  • Voltage input
  • Comparator output
  • DC power supply
  • Ethernet communication (optional) for factory network integration and data management.

This flexibility enables seamless integration into modern automated systems and networked production environments.

Improved Noise Immunity

A selectable low-pass filter (OFF / 100 Hz / 20 kHz) is provided to reduce signal noise and improve stability.

Auto-Zero Function

The auto-zero time range is 0.0 s (OFF) – 20.0 s in 0.5-second increments, allowing precise control over measurement reset timing.  (Standard on TM-4100 and TM-4200 models.)

Rapid Deceleration Tracking

During periods when the measured value reaches zero within the auto-zero time setting, the TM-4000 performs deceleration calculations every 1 ms or holds the last valid reading.
This ensures accurate tracking of rapidly changing rotational speeds.  (Standard on TM-4100 and TM-4200 models.)

Key Features & Benefits

  • Dual-mode measurement
The TM-4000 supports both non-contact optical and contact measurement modes. Switch easily between optical probes and contact adapters to suit your application needs.

  • Wide speed range & high accuracy
Measure from low RPMs up to high rotational speeds (depending on model and probe) with precision. Typical accuracy is
±0.02% of reading ±1 digit, ensuring dependable measurements across the scale.

  • Multiple display units
    Display speed as
rpm (revolutions per minute), rps (revolutions per second), surface speed (m/min, ft/min), frequency (Hz), or count — all at the press of a button.

  • Large, backlit LCD display
An easy-to-read, clear screen shows current, maximum, minimum, and average values. The backlight ensures visibility even in dimly lit environments.

  • Data output & connectivity
    Models are available with
USB or analog (voltage/current) outputs so that real-time measurement data can be logged, recorded, or fed into external analysis systems.

  • Durable, portable design
The TM-4000 unit is rugged enough for field or shop-floor use while being compact and battery-powered for portability.

  • Memory & statistics
    Cap
ture maximum, minimum, and average values over a measurement session. Some models support data logging or snapshot capture for quality control or diagnostic review.

Typical Applications

The TM-4000 Series is trusted across industries for applications including:

  • Rotational speed measurement of motors, fans, pumps, and turbines
  • Surface speed and linear velocity measurement of belts, rollers, and conveyors
  • Preventive maintenance and equipment diagnostics
  • Quality control in manufacturing and test labs
  • Research and development, including machinery prototyping
  • Calibration checks and cross-verification of other tachometers
